You might not have noticed, but your Kindle for Mac has probably stopped syncing with Amazon since updating to OS X Lion, even if you have the most recent Kindle update. Even re-downloading it from Amazon doesn’t solve the problem.
Here’s how to fix it:
1. Delete Kindle.app from your Applications folder (don’t panic! This doesn’t delete your purchases or any added files, just the app).
To enable it, go to Settings Other Annotations Sync and Backup.' However, 'Annotations Sync and Backup' is not a menu choice. I don't see that choice in a menu in either iPhone or for Kindle. Since not all Android devices come with an app to manage tasks, you can also use Tasks and Notes for MS Exchange or TouchDown to sync Outlook Tasks with Kindle Fire. AkrutoSync works with both apps. And neither uses a web-based service that requires a login or save your information in the cloud. Worth re-iterating that this will not sync to a Mac itself (the question asks about Kindle, iPad, and iPhone, so alas, I guess this answers that specifically). But if you want to sync between Kindle for Mac and a Kindle, you may be SOL – Brad Solomon Sep 6 '19 at 1:57. Now go to the Kindle App for the device. Click the Sync button, and wait a few minutes for it to sync, although it should happen right away. If you have a Kindle Fire, the book should appear in the “Docs” section on your Kindle. The cover may not show until you open the book for the first time. Transfer with USB. Using Amazon’s “Send to Kindle” instead makes them sync (incl. Highlights and notes) with my physical Kindle as well as the Kindle app on iOS—but not the Kindle app on my mac, nor on the Kindle Cloud Reader. They don’t whispersync, and looking at Amazon’s “Manage Your Content and Devices”, I cannot “Deliver” them either to.
2. Drag the Kindle icon off the Dock and release it anywhere on the desktop.
2. Click on the App Store icon on the Dock, search for Kindle and install.

3. Don’t forget to make a new icon for your Dock by dragging the Kindle app over from Finder.
Kindle For Mac Not Syncing Collections
That’s it! Syncing restored, but be aware that the App store version of Kindle is an old build. The latest Kindle build with support for Collections won’t work with Lion yet. For that, we’ll all have to wait on the developers… ?
